Tara fell in love with the principles of osteopathy as a teenager. As an elite young athlete competing in swimming and triathlons, she experienced her fair share of injuries, however it was osteopathy that assessed her whole person rather than just the site of pain. This allowed Tara to get back to training and competing, and therefore inspired a career in Osteopathy.
Tara Neyland completed her Osteopathy qualifications at RMIT University and soon developed a passion for spinal and pelvic conditions, and women's health. Tara has a keen interest in female physiology, women training at elite levels, and pregnancy, and has further completed a GradCert in Women's Health Medicine at the University of NSW. With this, alongside further osteopathic qualifications in pregnancy and pelvic pain, Tara has helped people with a variety of women's health conditions, as well as empower women throughout the full term of their pregnancies, from preconception, preparing the body to carry a baby, throughout each trimester, preparing for birth, as well as post-partum care.
Now a keen cyclist, Tara's experience training and racing in road, cyclocross, mountain bike and track disciplines has provided her with a deep understanding of the demands of elite-level competition. Tara has a passion for maximising the performance of female athletes by understanding the complexities of the menstrual cycle, the best times to train, recover, diet and nutrition. She also understands how the hormonal changes that occur throughout menopause affect muscle mass, strength, and fitness.
Alongside treating women and athletes, Tara is skilled at diagnosing and treating spinal and pelvic conditions. She is determined to locate and treat the biomechanical and structural cause of all long-term injuries and adopts the biopsychosocial model of health to further identify and improve overall physical health and wellbeing.
